Routinely administered childhood immunisations is an important tool to protect our younger patients from serious and sometimes life-threatening illnesses such as diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, pneumococcal disease, meningococcal C disease, hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), rotavirus, chickenpox, measles, mumps and rubella (German measles) and influenza.

Australia’s National Immunisation Program sets out the routine childhood immunisations recommended for all children in Australia.   • Government Funded Vaccinations available:

  • Fluvax – Annual influenza vaccinations to eligible patients at the start of the flu season in April

  • Pneumovax 23 – anyone aged >65 years who has not previously received a dose of Pneumovax 23 and for non-Indigenous adults aged >65 years, a second dose of Pneumovax 23® (to be given >5 years after the first dose), is recommended for those who have a condition that predisposes them to an increased risk of invasive pneumococcal disease.

  • MMR – as measles is an ongoing risk, MMR is given to unvaccinated people up to 47 years of age
